Yes I'm still alive!

Oh dear, I haven't posted for ages! This was supposed to be my diary of all my random thoughts etc but I've been finding it really hard to fit in - especially as I usually post from my work computer so am busy doing other stuff!

I've been busy lately sorting everything out for the MoonWalk which is taking place this Saturday. My outfit is pretty much decorated but I might add a few finishing touches to it. This is what I've got so far:
I started out with a plain black bustier because I'm too chicken to wear just a bra! I then added some leopard print material to the middle section - luckily it had seams down the middle already so I just used these as the guide. I'm really proud of my effort - it almost looks like something you'd buy in a shop!
I then bought some plain black cat ears from eBay and added some of the leopard print material to those:
My mum came up with the bright idea of buying some face paints and haveing leopard faces! I think this is a great idea but I think we'll get some funny looks on the train! Here is my first attempt at a leopard grrr!
I don't know why I look so miserable in this photo! I think I'm going to do it a little bit different - might have to have another practice before the big day!

Ouch!

I have been following my Moonwalk training plan which meant that on Saturday I set out with my Mum to walk 12 miles. She had chosen a lovely route through the countryside and the weather was beautiful which was a nice surprise!
My mum looking pretty in pink!
The ducks, geese etc at Hanningfield Reservoir
I didnt realise how hard it would be to walk 12 miles but I can assure you that it was very hard - I am now getting worried about walking the full 26 in May! If you are squeemish turn away now as this is a photo of the gross blister I ended up with:
Suffice to say that I didn't end up going out partying on Saturday night as I had planned :-(  Luckily my lovely Dad has offered to buy me some proper walking trainers rather than the ones I am wearing now - although they are good running trainers Im hoping that my new walking ones will make a difference. I've gone with the Salomon Exit Peak Trainers which are recommended by Nina who is the lady who started the Moonwalk in the first place. They are not the most stylish but hopefully they will do the job!

Moonwalk 14th May 2011

After completing a 10k Race For Life run last year I decided to sign up for the Moonwalk - this is a marathon length (26.2miles!!) walk at night though London wearing a decorated bra! Eek! I have started my training already and although walking sounds easy I promise you it isn't! Last Saturday I had to walk 8 miles which took me 2 hours 25 mins - my lovely mother in law has a treadmill in her loftroom so luckily I was able to watch tv whilst doing it otherwise I would have been really bored! Saturday night saw me with really stiff knee joints and blisters all over my feet :( In addition to the long walk at the weekend my training plan said that I had to do 4 miles on Tuesday and 5 miles on Thursday - well, I missed the walk on Tuesday due to having sore legs and then I only managed 3 on Wednesday! Because of all this I have been looking on the internet and decided to purchase some cod liver oil tablets and glucosamine tablets which are both good for your joints. I also bought some compeed blister plasters in preparation for walking 10 miles tomorrow! These got delivered today so watch this space!

My lovely mum is doing the walk with me. She is the fittest person I know - she has done a couple of marathons and is in the Billericay Striders running club so I thought she would have no problem with walking 26 miles. I thought wrong! She is actually suffering more than me....which makes me feel abit better actually!

I haven't mentioned anything about the bra have I! Because the walk is to raise money and awareness for breast cancer you are supposed to walk it in your bra and the crazier the better! Here is a photo from one of the previous walks:
Yep they look as mad as a box of frogs! The theme this year is 'walk on the wild side' so I have been looking at leopard print material etc and googling decorated bra's for inspiration. Here are a few of the bras that caught my eye:
And the following are my inspiration boards. All the material is from ebay and is really cheap which means that I just need to get some ribbon and sparkly bits!

This first one is my mums favourite so I will probably go with this. Its also abit different - I'm sure everyone will have gone crazy with the leopard print. I've bought the chiffon cover-ups because I feel abit self-conscious wearing just a bra - I don't really want all my wobbly bits out on show!:

...love Maegan

I recently discovered this AMAZING blog called ...love Maegan and I have to agree - I love Maegan! There is a whole section of 'fashion DIYs' which show how to customise shoes, bags etc and how to make really cool jewelley. My favourite tutorials are the Christian Louboutin Petal Sandals and the Removable Ruffles tutorials.

Here is the Christian Louboutin shoe which was the inspiration for the petal sandals:
And here is what she ended up with:
I don't know about you but I cannot tell the difference, I think I even like her shoes better - she even made a matching clutch bag!
Here is the inspiration for the ruffle shoes:
And here is the result:
I prefer these to the shoes in the inspiration board and cannot wait to get some supplies and start making these bad boys!

In addition to the fashion tutorials there are also section on home DIY projects and hair tutorials - basically this blog has everything a girl needs to be fab!

Swan Lake

I'm thinking of redecorating my bedroom - not for any particular reason except that I get bored quite quickly (hubby won't be pleased!). We decorated our house when we bought it in May 2008 and in our bedroom I got abit carried away as I was allowed to go girly! I still love this style but it feels abit bare at the moment as there is only a feature wallpapered wall with the rest of the walls being painted white. I definitely want to keep the duck egg blue curtains but have been thinking of papering all of the walls to make it more cosy and boudouir-ish. This is our room at the moment:
The wallpaper is Summer Palace by Laura Ashley and is really pretty:
I have been looking through loads of gorgeous wallpapers online and had been leaning towards creamy/beige wallpaper so that the scheme was abit more understated:

Then I saw this gorgeous wallpaper on House to Home, it is called Swan Lake and is by Nina Campbell for Osborne & Little:
(colour palette)
I feel abit bad about this because the colours are exactly the same as the wallpaper we have now - I think it looks less busy which is why it lends itself to being papered on all the walls.

Meet the new member of our family!

We got him just after Xmas but I haven't had a chance to do a post about him yet. Meet.......
Butch!
He belonged to a friend of a friend who couldn't look after him anymore so gave him to us! Hubby was so excited as he has always wanted a bulldog. Butch is the sweetest, gentlest, biggest softie ever and we are so happy that he's joined our little family. We also have another dog called Max and two cats, Lola and Nicky, so our house is abit of a zoo!

Golden Globes 2011

Its another award ceremony post! Here are a few of my favourites outfits from the Golden Globes:
Ann Hathaway looks a-may-zing!!
Love the Christian Louboutin ankle boots!
There seemed to be a recurring theme of nude colours and lots of embellishment:

And I can't forget the men!:
(I've got abit of a thing for Bruce Willis!)
